This unique heated tortilla press par bakes the wheat flour tortilla, chapati or flatbread in 3-4 seconds. It is then ready to be baked/grilled to perfection on a hot cast iron griddle, comal, skillet or other traditional method. Applying heat while pressing allows the dough to "proof" and seals the surface to retain moisture. Breaking down the gluten in the wheat flour dough by par baking the tortilla under pressure allows a flat and tender tortilla or chapati to be produced without rolling and manually stretching. This is the method used by commercial producers and it is now available to the home tortilla cook at an affordable price!
